Resulting from a partnership between Grimaldi Group (Naples) and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, two large European shipowning companies, Grimaldi & Louis Dreyfus Lines operate the first motorway of the sea between Italy and France. It is a regular maritime service for freight (new cars, vans, trailers and semi-trailers, containers, etc.) and passengers between the ports of Toulon (Brégaillon) and Rome (Civitavecchia).
Speed and comfort are a guaranty onboard the car ferry Sorrento which, thanks to a cruise speed of 22 knots, performs the journey between Civitavecchia and Toulon (mainly by night) in only 14 hours, linking the two ports three times a
week.
In summer time, GLD Lines offers a weekly connection between the ports of Civitavecchia and Porto Vecchio, linking directly and in just over 6 hours, the centre and south of Italy to Corsica.
